Incident on Cape Fear River Trail

(Fayetteville, NC) – On Monday, July 24, 2017 at approximately 3:10 pm, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the Cape Fear River Trail in reference to a report that a male subject was exposing himself in the wood line adjacent to the trail.

The investigation revealed that two (2) females were walking along the Cape Fear River Trail near the 0.4 mile marker, when they observed a male subject in the wood line that was exposing his genitalia.  Once the females observed what was occurring, they ran back to the Jordan Soccer Complex and called 911.  Officers responded to the area and conducted a search of the area; however they were unable to locate the subject.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic or Native American male with shoulder length brown hair and blue shorts.

The FPD would encourage anyone to always walk in pairs on the trail and if you have a cellular telephone, please have it with you in the event of any emergency that may arise.  In addition, there are emergency call boxes positioned along the trail.  If you see suspicious activity while walking along the trail, please call 911 and an officer will respond to your location.
