Update to Traffic Crash Fatality / Road Closure

(Fayetteville, NC) – Officers with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Traffic Unit have identified those involved in the traffic crash fatality, which occurred on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at approximately 5:34 am along Bunce Road between Bingham Drive and Raeford Road.

Exzandria D. McKinnon (B/F, 28 years of age) of the 7800 block of Cliffdale Road was operating a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria. McKinnon was pronounced deceased on scene.

Jnethyyn J. Johnson (B/M, 19 years of age) of the 6500 block of Senator Drive was operating a 2005 Hyundai Tiburon. Johnson was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in critical condition.

The preliminary investigation has revealed Johnson’s vehicle crossed over the center median and struck McKinnon’s vehicle head on.

The FPD’s Traffic Unit is actively investigating the vehicle crash and additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Traffic Crash Fatality / Road Closure

(Fayetteville, NC) – On Sunday, June 18, 2017, at approximately 5:34 am, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle crash on Bunce Road between Bingham Drive and Raeford Road. 

Two vehicles were involved in a traffic crash, which resulted in the driver of one vehicle passing away on scene. The driver of the second vehicle was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in critical condition.

Bunce Road is currently closed in both directions between Raeford Road and Bingham Drive. Motorists traveling along Bingham Drive/Bunce Road towards Raeford Road are encouraged to take Bailey Lake Road, to Strickland Bridge Road, to Raeford Road. Motorists traveling along Raeford Road are encouraged to take Strickland Bridge Road, to Bailey Lake Road, to Raeford Road.

The names of all people involved are currently being withheld until their immediate families can be notified.

The FPD’s Traffic Unit is actively investigating the vehicle crash and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
