Attempted Rape Investigation
(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the FPD’s Special Victims Unit are investigating a rape that occurred on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at approximately 9:08 pm along the 300 block of Moore Street.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was leaving the area of the 400 block of Cumberland Street when she asked a passerby, driving a brown or gold in color four door vehicle, for directions. The victim then left the parking lot when two black males, in a brown or gold in color four door vehicle, pulled up next to the victim and asked if she needed a ride. One of the suspects exited the vehicle at that time, pushed the victim to the ground, began to remove the victim’s clothing, and attempted to rape her. As this is happening another vehicle begins to drive in to the area, which startled the suspects, and they then fled the area.
Detectives with FPD’s Special Victims Unit have obtained surveillance images from the area and are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the individuals depicted in these images.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
